The Philippines celebrates National Children's Month every November, appreciating the importance of protecting the rights and welfare of children. This 2024, the theme "Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines” reflects people to address the growing issue of violence against children. It calls for an action to ensure that every child grows up in an environment free from harm, fear, and violence.
Children are among the vulnerable members of society, making them more exposed from dangers around them. We often unable to protect themselves from this dangers. Reports of child abuse, bullying, online exploitation and neglect continues to highlight the need for stronger efforts from families, school, communities and the government. This year's theme focuses not only to aware people but to implement solutions to end the violence that children are experiencing creating a safer environment for them. Without doing an action, we leave the children suffer from the effects of these violence. Children in this situations are more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, traumatic disorders, and the like. So, we need to preventing violence against children by thinking of effective strategies. This includes, enforcement of child protection laws, educating them about their rights and creating an accessible emergency and support system for the victims. This gives children the opportunity to experienced their rights. Giving them a safer tomorrows of their life.
As we celebrate National Children's Month, let us all reflect on how our actions contribute to shaping a safer environment for children. We need to become part of the solution. Together, we can foster an society where every child feels valued, respected, and secure. Celebrating this year's theme is more than just an awareness of the problem, it is a call to action to transform the Philippines into safe country for children.
